Candidates are selected based upon academic performance in undergraduate and graduate studies, personal characteristics, awareness of the medical profession, leadership experience, community service, and potential for success in medical school as expressed in the letters of recommendation and a personal statement.

The basic medical sciences would be taught at the campus in St Lucia, after which students will go to USA for their clinicals. They can also do their clinicals in St Lucia or in other Caribbean islands. After the completion of the curriculum, students have to complete a rotator internship before they can apply for a residency program in the US or in their own countries.

If you do not meet the minimum course requirements, you will be given an opportunity in the WMSI to explain why. Exceptions are rarely possible; they are made for individuals with very high grades or for those who demonstrate an exceptional aptitude in the sciences.

A Personal statement reflecting your purpose for pursuing this degree. The Personal Statement should be typed in 11-point, Arial font with 1.5 line spacing. It should be no less than one page and no more than two pages in length. The applicant should use this essay to explain their reasons for considering a career in medicine / nursing, what makes them a potential asset to WMSI  and any significant accomplishments or additional information that they feel would be useful to the Admissions Committee in evaluating their application.

No. Distance learning is not permitted for any pre-requisite course for admission to WMSI programs.

Yes, WMSI offer pre med program by itself as well as through its affiliated institutions.

You do not have to be pre med major or biology major to apply to WMSI. The most important consideration is that you meet the course requirements and have 90 credit hours in the required subjects.

In order to meet the WMSI course requirements, we expect the students to have a sound knowledge in the subjects like biology, inorganic and organic chemistry and physics prior to attending medical school.

 

You will have to undertake an appropriate pre-medical program at WMSI campus in St Lucia to complete the mandatory credit hours.

8 semesters of Bachelor of science program.

Bachelor of Science with 120 credit hours. A minimum of 90 credit hours (after a pre-med diploma or equivalent from an affiliated institution) are required for entry into the MD or dual degree program at WMSI.

We cannot tell you in advance whether or not you qualify for a student scholarship. Need-based loans and scholarships are awarded based on the results of completed formal applications.

You will be charged a non-refundable fee with your on-line application from the WMSI Admissions (STEP I instructions, sent upon our receipt of your preliminary WMSI Application).

 

Visa fee is charged once at the time of issuance of Student visa for completion of the entire course

He/she should approach with authentic certificate from the institute (WMSI).

Foreign students holding Student Visa are required to register himself/herself with the local Foreigners Regional Registration Officer within 6 weeks of arrival.

Usually multiple entries are allowed.

The fee structure depends on the nationality of the passport holder and type/duration/country of visa applied. These fees are payable in the local currency as well.

Students need to procure confirmed letters of admission from WMSI to apply for a St Lucian or US Visa.
