The MD Program at Washington Medical Sciences Institute is designed to prepare students for successful careers in medicine. With a focus on academic excellence, clinical competence, and ethical practice, our program provides a comprehensive education that equips future physicians to meet the challenges of modern healthcare.
The MD Program spans 162 weeks of instruction, organized into two distinct phases:
Delivered on campus, this phase focuses on foundational medical knowledge, including anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, pathology, and pharmacology. Students learn through lectures, lab work, and hands-on experiences, building a strong scientific foundation for clinical practice.
Conducted in affiliated hospitals and clinical settings, this phase emphasizes real-world patient care. Students rotate through core medical specialties such as internal medicine, surgery, pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, and more, gaining invaluable hands-on experience under the guidance of experienced healthcare professionals.
